We are proud to announce that after many months in the making, OpenVoter 2.0 has now been released. OpenVoter is a new Content Management System (CMS) that will allow people to run their own social news or social media site. This means that they can run their own Digg, or their own Mixx having full control over the site, it's content, and its users.
The idea behind OpenVoter is to allow people to create a community where users can share their ideas, thoughts, and anything they find interesting with others in the community. Whether the community is focused on a particular niche or whether its broad covering multitudes of topics, people can share in the sense of community. But that niche focus we think is what can really help people form those bonds as they can really focus on their common interests.
But what good would this entry be without going over a little bit of the history of OpenVoter? OpenVoter has had 2 iterations so far, 1.0 and 1.1. And while those were by no means bad releases, they both added a lot to the table, but now well over a year after the release of 1.0, 2.0 is born. 2.0 was a systematic redesign of the look, feel, and of course the inner mechanics of how OpenVoter works behind the scenes. And not only did we completely revamp it, but we also added many new features as well. Features like sharing, alerts, private messaging are all now part of OpenVoter 2.0. And these 3 features are really only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what it can do. Site administrators have the ability to customize much of the site's features through a completely redesigned admin panel, they can manage ads and placements, as well as how the site operates.
And the best part? OpenVoter is FREE and licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPLv3).
So head over to the Download page and try it out.
